actually a slice of taiwan in melbourne that transported me back!!
taiwan is one of those places where lots of friends are like … you’re going.. again?! 😂 it genuinely have felt like a second home to me. I love the food culture there and the cuisine of course and so when I saw there are more and more taiwanese spots opening up in Melbourne, I’m so excited to try them all out! 🥹
@themazucafe is one high up on the list! Tbh I am a little shocked at how authentic the food was here; it was genuinely really good and reminded me of taiwan 🥹 half of the menu is pretty much all Taiwanese inspired brunch dishes, from sides to mains! and there’s a portion in there that’s a staple brunch menu with a little small Japanese influence.
We ordered:
• Formosa Set + a side of braised pork belly
• Taiwanese popcorn chicken
• Taiwanese sausage with sticky rice
• Braised Beef Noodles
• Hojicha Latte + Coffee’s
(Btw their drinks are HUGE, size of my palm if not more 😅)
All of my fave things tbh — I loved the braised pork rice bowl that was in the formosa set and adored all the side dishes that came with it! It’s kind of like a Japanese teishoku but make it taiwanese, LOVE! The braised beef noodles felt like a hug - the first slurp made a little emotional bc it felt like I was back in taiwan. I sound so dramatic… but I guess it did feel like that 😋
I highly rate this spot and is a place I’d visit again :-) (but again, highly bias bc I LOVE taiwanese cuisine and this is right up my alley).
What’s your favourite type of fusion brunch? ☺️
