How much do you reckon I actually ate from this 1.1kg Taiwanese bento? 👀🍱
This beast of a lunch box came from Ho Chia in Sunnybank Plaza - a spot that’s been serving classic Taiwanese homestyle food for around 20 years.
It's so old school I can't find any social media presence.
And for such an institution in Brisbane they have a surprisingly low number of Google Maps reviews.
I guess it is kind of tucked away and out of sight from the food court and other clusters of eateries in the shopping centre. So maybe it's more of an #iykyk type of joint.
They also sell various noodle soups, along with frozen foods like buns and dumplings. But I was here for a quick takeaway purchase from their hot bar.
10 dishes were available in the bain-marie to choose from in building your own bento. I went with Set A (1 meat + 3 veggies) - super filling, great value, and proper comfort food vibes.
Didn’t quite finish it though… ended up with leftovers I can use for another meal so that ups the value even further!
📍 Ho Chia Food Bar – Shop 85, Sunnybank Plaza (near the Australia Post, next to Formosa Asian Market)
💰 Prices vary by combo ($11-$21; mine was Set A $16)
🥢 Great for: quick lunch, takeaway, big appetites
