Okay, I’ve seriously done my research (aka, watching endless reels, TikTok’s, Google reviews, little red book — you name it) and there are a few usual suspects when it comes to ‘viral’ udon spots in Tokyo, but I have to say while Udon Shin is known for its long lines, it was the most consistent when it came to taste! I figured if I had to wait, I’d rather wait for a place that lived up to the taste buds, and it 100% delivered. 💯 I actually had @udon_shin.official on my list for my last visit to Japan but I couldn’t make it in time 😭 so glad to have finally made it this time round and I cannot stress how WORTH this was and hands down some of the best udon I’ve ever had! Cutting to the chase - the wait. So the ticketing system is actually great, but there’s actually two waiting times. One is the waiting time to line up, then the other one is waiting in line. I know, doesn’t sound too good for those who hate waiting but I felt like anywhere up to just over an hour, I’d wait for this!! ☺️ I went around 10am before they opened and there were already 10 groups in front of me 🤣 got called around 11.30 (they open at 11!) and was seated just before 12. The wait didn’t feel like 2 hours tbh because we just explored the area and it was almost like a in-person booking type approach. Anyway, I can see why it gets bit ridiculous during lunch time but tbh if I don’t need to stand in line more than an hour, this place is worth it for me! ☺️ We got - creamy udon with beef and added mentaiko - individual tempura on the side (sweet potato and ebi) - hot udon with assorted tempura On top of their amazing hand made udon that was extremely chewy and bouncy, their tempura is a must order!
