@gocvietqld has been a firm favourite of mine since my first visit a few years ago. One thing I've always appreciated is that their menu is a bit different from the majority of what you'll see in Brisbane Vietnamese restaurants.
Like this pho tai lan / stir fried beef pho ($19)
Instead of the usual raw beef you'll typically see, the beef in this dish is already stir fried and that gives the broth a boost of smoky wok flavours.
It's item N2 on the menu. Wifey orders this almost every time we visit.
I went for something more conventional this time: bun cha gio / house's special spring rolls ($17)
Just give me all the fish sauce goodness
The spring rolls
Vermicelli noodle salad felt like a lighter & healthier choice 😁
The boy doesn't usually like Vietnamese food but this beef fried rice (com rang dua bo, $18) was right up his alley
He opted out of the pickled mustard greens though
Some other dishes that our friends ordered:
pho dac biet / special beef pho ($20)
This was popular - 3 out of 8 people had the same order
Bun bo hue / Hue spicy beef soup ($19)
This was high up on my shortlist
Bun dao mam tong / northern pork tofu platter ($21)
Featuring that fermented shrimp paste
The menu includes...
Some street eats and salads...
And a selection of mains
Some interesting drinks options too. Didn't order any this time cos I knew I was getting drinks straight after!
